India and the United States have set ‘Mission 500’ for bilateral trade

 

 

 

In a significant move to enhance India-US trade relations, India and the United States have jointly launched Mission 500, an ambitious initiative aimed at expanding bilateral trade to USD500 billion by 2030. This target underscores the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two nations and reflects their commitment to deepening commercial ties across multiple sectors.

Mission 500 represents a roadmap for boosting India-US trade expansion, covering key areas such as technology, defense, energy, pharmaceuticals, and digital commerce. The initiative builds upon the strong foundation of existing trade partnerships, with both countries recognizing the need to enhance economic collaboration to drive mutual growth.

 

The bilateral trade between India and the U.S. surpassed USD191 billion in 2022–23, making the U.S. India's largest trading partner. With the Trade Target 2030 set at $USD500 billion, the two nations aim to remove trade barriers, promote foreign direct investment (FDI), and foster innovation-driven industries.

India-U.S. bilateral trade is expanding rapidly, driven by key sectors shaping the global economy. Technology and the digital economy are at the forefront, with both nations strengthening digital trade agreements, cybersecurity frameworks, and collaborations in AI, cloud computing, and fintech. The defense and aerospace sectors are witnessing deeper ties through increased procurements, joint military exercises, and advanced technology transfers.
