PayCentral, described by a senior executive as India’s first Agent-to-Agent (A2A) payment platform, enables AI agents to autonomously negotiate and complete real-time transactions, integrating with gateways like CCAvenue, Stripe, and PhonePe to enhance digital commerce
In a significant leap for India’s digital payments ecosystem, Infibeam Avenues Ltd has developed PayCentral, the country’s first agentic payment platform powered by artificial intelligence. Created through its AI-focused subsidiary, Phronetic AI, the platform enables fully autonomous transactions between AI agents, eliminating the need for human involvement in payment processing.
According to reports citing a senior company executive familiar with the development, PayCentral introduces Agent-to-Agent (A2A) payment capabilities—where intelligent software agents negotiate, initiate, and complete payments in real time. The platform is designed to function as a smart payment infrastructure layer that can integrate with popular payment gateways such as CCAvenue, Stripe, and PhonePe.
“This system is the first of its kind in India,” the executive said. “It allows AI agents to manage the entire payment process—speeding up transactions, improving user experience, and boosting conversion rates, especially in sectors with digitally verified customer identities.”
AI agents close the loop on customer engagement
Sectors like travel, insurance, OTT services, and digital banking—which already rely on mobile numbers and email IDs as verified digital identities—are expected to benefit the most. The executive explained that PayCentral bridges a key gap in digital commerce: turning user interest into completed transactions without interrupting the customer journey.
“In many digital campaigns, the customer sees an offer, but the payment process breaks the flow,” the source said. “With PayCentral, AI-powered shopping assistants can talk directly to payment gateways’ AI agents, completing the checkout seamlessly—with just minimal user consent.”
Built on Google’s Agent Payment Protocol (AP2) and layered over Payment Aggregators’ Model Context Protocols (MCPs), PayCentral supports dynamic payment link generation, real-time account reconciliation, subscription management, and automated refunds.
Potential game-changer for digital commerce
Infibeam’s own CCAvenue is reportedly already integrating PayCentral, a move that could bring A2A transaction capabilities to thousands of Indian merchants. Industry analysts believe the arrival of agentic AI platforms could reshape digital commerce by automating everything from product discovery to final payment.
“If it works at scale, this could redefine how transactions are completed online,” the executive noted. “We’re moving toward a future where AI agents don’t just assist—they act, transact, and close the sale.” Infibeam has yet to issue an official statement.
