The Arc Search app aims to redefine your internet browsing experience by generating a new web page from scratch that offers customised search results.
Developed by The Browser Company, Arc Search on Android brings a ton of new features including an AI powered feature that offers customised search results. Currently in “Early Access,” the Arc Search app’s “Browse for me” feature lets you type a search query in the box, which makes it search information on your behalf.
The Arc Search app is taking on Chrome on Google’s platform with a beta version of its browser that blocks ads by default and summarizes search results for you. The Browser Company says it uses AI to read multiple web pages and generate a new page with different sections.
While Arc initially launched as a Mac-only desktop browser, the Arc Search app launched widely for iOS devices in January and on Windows in April. On iPhone, the company had announced that it is ditching iCloud in favour of its own cross platform syncing service, but currently there is no way to sync your pinned tabs and password on Android. Some other features like pinch to summarise and Call to ask are missing as well.
While it is fairly accurate, it can sometimes be wrong and take some time to open the page, especially if you are in an area with poor connectivity. Also, similar to the iPhone version of the app, tapping on the search bar will automatically open your keyboard, but you can also choose to turn it off.
