The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has announced its partnership with MediSim VR to integrate its AI-enabled Virtual Reality solutions into medical and nursing education. This collaboration represents a strategic milestone in advancing research on integrating VR-based skill training within India’s medical education curriculum. Through this partnership, AIIMS and MediSim VR will jointly research and evaluate how VR can be embedded into the medical and nursing curriculum, studying its impact on skill development, standardization, and long-term adoption.
Dr M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, said, speaking at the launch event stated, “If the country as a whole is to be in the best league, that has to extend to all spheres, including medical innovations, medical teaching, training and learning as well. [VR-based simulation training] allows for a learning environment where you are immersed and exposed to all things you will experience in a clinical setting. This collaboration enables us to further study how immersive technologies can contribute to skill development, assessment and training standardisation.”
Dr Ambuj Roy, Professor of Cardiology and Head of SET Facility, AIIMS, New Delhi said, “AIIMS New Delhi has always been a pioneer in redefining medical education. By integrating Virtual Reality, we are not just enhancing training, we are shaping a future where every healthcare professional is equipped with precision, confidence, and cutting-edge skills. This partnership marks a transformative step towards setting new global benchmarks in medical learning.”
Dr Adith Chinnaswami, COO and co-founder of MediSim VR, added, “When AIIMS adopts a teaching tool, it sends a strong signal across the medical education ecosystem. This collaboration is centred around creating a framework where VR becomes part of standard training, and eventually, part of regulations. We are proud to support AIIMS in leading this shift towards systematic adoption.”
Sabarish Chandrasekaran, CEO and co-founder of MediSim VR, asserts, “MediSim VR is honored to collaborate with one of the leading medical institutions in the country. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to harnessing technology for enhanced learning and teaching practices, ultimately leading to better learning outcomes. We hope AIIMS New Delhi’s forward-thinking approach will inspire other academic institutions to join this movement towards technology-driven excellence in medical education.”
