According to reports, Apple is working on a less expensive variant of its Vision Pro headset, which may be released as early as 2025. A second-generation Vision Pro is also being developed by the tech behemoth; however, a release date has not yet been announced.
The existing Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, which was introduced last year and delivered to customers earlier this year, failed to make a significant impact due to its steep price of $3,499. The specifics of how Apple intends to lower costs for the more affordable Vision Pro model are still uncertain. Industry experts suggest that cost reductions could be achieved by using less powerful components or removing some high-end features.
Apple is also reportedly working on smart glasses, similar to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses. These glasses would let users easily capture photos and videos on the go and include a built-in voice assistant. Industry insiders speculate that Apple may be targeting a form factor similar to regular eyewear. Despite mixed feedback on the Vision Pro, Apple remains committed to expanding its presence in the augmented and virtual reality space with these new developments.
