Security and compliance should be embedded into the migration strategy from day one rather than addressed after workloads have been moved. “As regulations like the DPDP Act and industry-specific requirements continue to evolve, organizations need greater visibility into where their data resides, how it is managed, and who has access to it. Enterprises should prioritize cloud platforms that offer robust security controls, encryption, identity and access management, and local infrastructure that supports data residency requirements. Beyond technology, strong governance frameworks and continuous monitoring are equally important,” he says.
