boAt has launched its new smartwatch, Wave Fortune, featuring contactless payment functionality, health tracking, and calling capabilities. Priced at ₹3,299, and available at a special launch offer of ₹2,599, the smartwatch is now listed on the boAt website in Active Black.
A key highlight of Wave Fortune is the NFC-based Tap & Pay feature, introduced through a collaboration with Axis Bank. The payment functionality is powered by Tappy’s tokenization technology, allowing users to link their Axis Bank credit or debit cards (Mastercard or VISA) via the boAt Crest Pay app. Transactions of up to ₹5,000 can be made on NFC-enabled point-of-sale terminals without requiring a PIN.
Tap, personalize, and pay
With boAt Pay, users can tokenize their card details and store them securely in the smartwatch strap, enabling on-the-go payments while continuing to receive regular card benefits and rewards. The company stated that the new feature is intended to offer a safe and convenient payment experience directly from the wrist.
Wave Fortune is equipped with a 1.96-inch HD display offering 240x282 resolution and up to 550 nits of brightness, supporting visibility even under direct sunlight. It includes a wake gesture for quick access to the screen and notifications. The smartwatch also features a DIY Watch Face Studio that enables users to personalize the home screen using custom images, themes, or artworks.
Bluetooth calling and fitness rewards
In terms of communication, the device supports advanced Bluetooth calling, with an interactive dial pad, contact-saving options, and direct integration with the Crest Pay app. For fitness enthusiasts, the smartwatch offers activity tracking linked to the boAt Coins reward system, allowing users to earn redeemable points for meeting fitness milestones.
According to boAt, the Wave Fortune smartwatch aligns with its broader vision of delivering technology-led lifestyle products tailored to evolving consumer needs. The collaboration with Axis Bank aims to enhance secure, tokenized digital payment experiences and support the growth of contactless transactions in India.
With the launch of Wave Fortune, boAt continues its expansion in the wearables segment by integrating payment features with fitness and communication tools, offering consumers a multifunctional device at an accessible price point.See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
