Centre plans to launch super app for farmers
2022-03-30The government is planning to launch a super app for farmers, integrating multiple digital entities and existing mobile applications.
The consolidation will help farmers in accessing information about latest research and development, weather and market updates, services available, government schemes and advisories for different agro-climatic zones.
The ministry is looking at combining apps like Kisan Suvidha, Pusa Krishi, MKisan, Shetkari Masik Android App, Farm-o-pedia, Crop Insurance Android App, AgriMarket, Iffco Kisan and ICAR's Krishi Gyan among others.
Several government organizations such as Krishi Vigyan Kendras, ICAR institutions, and agriculture universities are working on modifying their existing apps so that they can later be integrated with the super app.
This initiative will be more user-friendly and it will allow the farmers to access all the latest information available on agriculture and government subsidies and schemes. It will also be used to educate farmers on crop production and technologies, and post-harvest issues including marketing, as well as in connecting them directly to the scientific community.
