CERT-In’s AI Security Framework
The rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including generative AI, large language models (LLMs), autonomous agents, and intelligent automation platforms, is reshaping the cybersecurity landscape.
While these technologies drive innovation and productivity, cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting AI to automate reconnaissance, identify vulnerabilities, launch sophisticated phishing attacks, develop adaptive malware, and accelerate cyber intrusions.
As organizations become more dependent on cloud platforms, digital infrastructure, software supply chains, and AI-powered applications, the risks associated with AI-assisted cyber threats continue to grow significantly.
To address these emerging challenges, CERT-In has released the “Blueprint for Reducing Exposure and Defending against AI-Assisted Vulnerability Exploitation in Digital Infrastructure.” The framework provides organizations with practical guidance on governance, exposure reduction, security operations, vulnerability management, supply-chain protection, incident response, cyber resilience, continuous security validation, and workforce preparedness.
CERT-In advises organizations to adopt a risk-based approach, continuously assess evolving threats, strengthen security controls, and enhance operational readiness through regular monitoring, testing, audits, and coordinated cybersecurity governance.
