ChatGPT launches Images 2.0
OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Images 2.0, a new image-generation model integrated into ChatGPT that focuses on accuracy, usability, and advanced visual reasoning. The model marks a shift from basic image rendering to a system capable of producing structured, design-ready visuals. The update builds on earlier versions by improving how images follow instructions, represent real-world context, and handle complex compositions. It is available across ChatGPT, Codex, and the API, with advanced capabilities accessible through higher-tier plans.
The update is aimed at making image generation more usable for real work, not just visual experimentation. Compared with prior versions, Images 2.0 is significantly better at following detailed instructions, rendering dense text, placing objects accurately, handling a wider range of aspect ratios, and generating images across more languages.
Features:
· More precise image generation for complex creative tasks like small text, UI elements, diagrams, and dense layouts
· Support for aspect ratios from 3:1 to 1:3, making it easier to generate assets for banners, slides, posters, and mobile formats
· Thinking-enabled image workflows in ChatGPT that can reason through a task, use the web when relevant, and generate multiple distinct images from a single prompt
· Up to eight coherent outputs in one request, enabling use cases like poster sets, storyboards, manga pages, and multi-format creative campaigns
· API availability via gpt-image-2, so developers can build image generation and editing directly into products and workflows
