CoWin, the government 's Covid-19 vaccination platform, can bear the load even if daily vaccination numbers reach 10 million or 20 million, RS Sharma , the chairman of the empowered group for Covid-19 vaccine administration.
The platform hit nearly 8.6 million vaccinations a day on Monday, a record of sorts on the first day of the new vaccine policy under which two-thirds of vaccine procurement is done by the Centre for the states.
He further said that, Government has created a robust platform which is scalable; it did not have a single glitch despite such large numbers, and I don't think we will have any glitch if the numbers go up more.
The government had previously drawn flak from civil society groups for mandating prior appointment and registration on the platform for the 18-44 age group. Critics had said that a vast percentage of the country's population was being excluded due to this requirement.
