Databricks Expands Presence in India
2022-10-19Databricks, the lakehouse company, today announced the appointment of Anil Bhasin as the Country Manager for India, one of the company’s fastest-growing regions in the Asia Pacific market.
To further support Databricks’ growing team and local customer base, the company also confirmed it recently expanded to a new office space in Bengaluru’s Embassy TechVillage. The number of Databricks employees in India has grown nearly 8x over the last two fiscal years, with more than 150% growth YoY. The team in India is a significant part of Databricks’ Asia Pacific footprint and the company continues to hire rapidly in India for a variety of technical and customer-facing roles.
The expansion builds on the strong customer demand Databricks has experienced in the region, working with data-driven customers like udaan, Meesho, Freshworks, an India/US-based global SaaS company, and Dream11, the world’s largest fantasy sports platform. Leveraging Databricks’ Lakehouse Platform on AWS has enabled Dream11 to consolidate massive amounts of user data under a single, unified ML platform, increasing productivity and fostering seamless collaboration among once-siloed data teams. Dream11 now delivers customer-centric solutions to their user base of over 130 million in a more efficient manner, helping Dream11 stay ahead of the curve in critical areas ranging from ML-powered customer recommendations and enhanced personalization to real-time fraud detection.
“Data plays a critical role in fueling digital transformation for businesses across every industry, and Databricks is pioneering the data architecture of the future with its lakehouse platform,” said Anil Bhasin, Vice President and Country Manager for Databricks India and looking forward to collaborating with our customers and partners to bring the lakehouse vision to life in India.”
