ECS has announced that ECS Durathon Technology provides a breakthrough upgrade: 100% Superior Solid Capacitors for all motherboards. ECS is the first motherboard maker to adopt 100% solid capacitors for every motherboard series to ensure the stability and durability under any circumstances, while many competing motherboards still provide a mix of electrolytic and solid capacitors.
Solid capacitors last longer than the electrolytic capacitors, especially under lower working temperatures. Typical electrolytic capacitors last only 32,000 hours (3.6 years), but ECS's solid capacitors are designed to last up to 200,000 hours (22 years) at the above normal operating temperatures of 65°C.
Typical electrolytic capacitors are less able to handle large ripple currents compared to solid capacitors. These ripple currents generate harmful heat through current leakage and cause capacitors to lose capacitance and electrolyte. Solid capacitors, on the other hand, boast a low ESR that keeps them last longer due to reduced current leakage.
