Essar deploys Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform to save 81 per cent on TCO
Nutanix has announced deployment of the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform at Essar, a company that operates a number of world-class assets diversified across the core sectors of Energy, Metals & Mining, Infrastructure (comprising ports and EPC businesses) and Services (primarily comprising Shipping business). The aggregated revenues of the Fund’s portfolio companies total US$15 billion (projected for FY2017-18), and the Essar group companies employ more than 50,000 people.
With the deployment of Nutanix, Essar will be able to virtualize and manage their entire line of business applications and SQL database solution hosted in the DMZ landscape. As a result, the company expects to simplify their IT infrastructure and minimize management cost by 93%, while allowing for an increase in user productivity by 94%.
By unifying the management of all their infrastructure with Nutanix Prism, Essar is already seeing better performance and availability through unique capabilities such as Auto Tiering and significant savings in the rack space, power and cooling, since all applications are now converged in just 2U rack servers.
“We wanted to minimize costs, ease the management with reduced complexity and improve performance through server virtualization. Given the maturity and leadership of Nutanix in the enterprise cloud space, it became our natural choice,” said Gaurang Doshi, Head – IT Infrastructure Systems and EUS, Essar. “With Nutanix, we can now control the entire system through one platform with one management pane of glass, which has dramatically simplified our infrastructure and improved efficiency. Our IT staff can now focus on services that power the business and contribute to productivity.”

Our endeavour is to ensure more than just cost saving, we aim to power mission-critical applications and services with a unified solution and enable immediate performance gains to business,” said Sunil Mahale, VP & MD, Nutanix India. “The Nutanix Enterprise Cloud OS is fast becoming a preferred choice for business-critical applications by industry leaders, given its simplicity and contribution to business efficiency.
