Francisco Partners has agreed to acquire Jamf, a leading Apple device management and security firm, for $2.2 billion in an all-cash transaction valued at $13.05 per share. This represents a 50% premium over Jamf's average share price before the sale exploration became public. The deal was unanimously approved by Jamf's board and is expected to close in Q1 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Vista Equity Partners, which owns about 34% of Jamf, will sell its stake and vote in favor of the acquisition.
Jamf, based in Minneapolis and founded over 20 years ago, provides software that helps organizations manage and secure Apple devices including MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones. It serves more than 75,000 customers globally across businesses, education, and government sectors. CEO John Strosahl emphasized that the transition to a private company would grant financial flexibility to accelerate growth, innovation, and acquisitions.
Despite growing revenue to $344.1 million in the first half of 2025—a 12.8% increase year-over-year—Jamf has faced operational challenges, posting a net loss that improved but remains a concern. The company has cut about 6.4% of its workforce recently to reduce costs and refocus on profitability. Francisco Partners, a specialist in technology investments with a record of acquiring and scaling cybersecurity firms like Forcepoint and Sumo Logic, plans to support Jamf’s next growth phase by expanding its secure product suite and market reach.
This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Jamf, which has been publicly traded for just over five years, as it seeks to strengthen its leadership in the Apple ecosystem under new ownership. The deal reflects Francisco Partners’ confidence in Jamf’s strategic position despite recent stock price declines since its 2020 IPO.
