Google hit by global login outage affecting Gmail and Google Docs : India too affected
Google product is affecting from global login outage issues and Problems signing in to Google products from the US, UK, India, Singapore, Europe to Australia.
Google experienced a global outage affecting users as they try to log in to the company’s many applications, including Gmail and Google Docs and any site that allows access via a Google account.
The problem lasted nearly two hours, beginning around 11pm BST. The company said it was investigating “an issue with OAuth login” and “an issue with Admin console” on Wednesday evening. The problem was resolved just before 1am BST.
"Message could not be sent. Check your network and try again" - this is the message that the affected Gmail users are seeing when trying to send a mail. Users reported problems in the US, UK, India, Singapore, South Africa, Europe and in Australia.
In case of Google Drive, 42 per cent of Drive users are unable to access the file online, 32 per cent of affected users are unable to load the app, and lastly the rest 24 per cent of users are facing trouble in file syncing.
Users of Google Maps are also experiencing issues while accessing the Street View mode of the service. Users are seeing a black screen while accessing the Street View mode instead of images of the location.
Many were greeted with an error page when they tried to login, citing error 502 and asking them to try again in 30 seconds.
Google has not stated any reason for the outage or until when can these issues be resolved. Almost 2 to 3 hours after the first issue was reported on social media, Google acknowledged the issue in an
official statement.
"We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail. We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior," the company posted at 8:23 am on its G Suite Status Dashboard on Wednesday.
This was followed by another statement at 10:14 am- "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 3/13/19, 11:14 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Users will have issues accessing or attaching files in various products. This includes Gmail and Drive. Gmail: Attaching or accessing attachments, as well as accessing and saving draft emails and sending emails. Drive: Upload and download of files."
This is not the year's first outage with Google services. A similar but brief outage had occurred in January affecting users living in parts of Europe, parts of North America, South America and Asia. Users all across the globe reported of a 404 error when they tried accessing the Gmail.
Google was hit by an outage in March, with with users reporting issues with Gmail, Google Drive, Hangouts and Google Maps for several hours.
