Google has added polls, Q&A, and reactions for live streams to its improved Meet app for mobile devices. For ultra-low latency live streaming, several capabilities are offered to increase audience involvement in meetings or classrooms.
Google has added AI-powered features, such improved security, longer battery life, and Google apps, to its Chromebook Plus notebooks. These features are designed to make virtual meetings and classes more interactive and participatory.
Polling: This feature allows meeting hosts to create multiple-choice questions for participants. Hosts can launch polls during the meeting, which participants can respond to immediately. The results can be displayed in real-time, providing instant feedback. Poll data is saved and can be reviewed later, which is useful for assessing participation and understanding the audience's opinions or knowledge on a topic.
Q&A: This tool enables participants to submit questions in a designated area separate from the chat, preventing questions from getting lost in the conversation. Participants can upvote questions, helping to highlight the most important or popular ones. Hosts can then address these questions during the session and mark them as answered, ensuring that key concerns are addressed.
These features, along with other tools like breakout rooms and host controls, are accessible through the geometric shapes icon in the lower right corner of the Meet interface. These enhancements are part of Google's efforts to improve the functionality and user experience of Google Meet.
As per the report, if users join a live stream from the Google Meet Android or iOS app, they can use these features “when they’re available”. The company noted that this update is applicable for “ultra-low latency live streams” only, the standard live streaming experience remains the same.
