To mark the 5th Chrome-iversary, Google has put together five facts about Chrome for users and five pro-tips for experts in a notification.
For the users, the first fact about Chrome is that its name comes from an obsession with simplicity which means that the Chrome browser was designed to let the websites shine. In design terminology, “chrome” refers to the non-webpage parts of the browser's interface the toolbars, tabs and buttons. This is part of the reason “Chrome” was chosen as the browser name.
Another finding is that Chrome is obsessed with speed. When a user lands on a webpage, Chrome starts to retrieve information about sites that the page links to in the background and thereby retrieves that page instantaneously. According to Chrome Vulnerability Rewards Program, Google provides monetary awards and public recognition when a hacker or security researcher reports vulnerability. This way, hackers have incentive to find and report bugs, and helps Chrome to fix them before they get exploited by bad guys on the web. The other feature of Chrome is that it keeps itself updated.
5 pro-tips for the Chrome-xpert includes let the omnibox do user’s sums; pin favourite pages; search without a trace; email links all the time; and drag a tab to one of five positions to re-size or dock the window.
