iPhone 12 series smartphone was launched back in October 2020. The iPhone 12 series- iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, have been marred with various issues, since its launch. This time now the battery of the iPhone is creating hurdles in the usage of its customers.
A series of complaints of iPhone 12 users, on Apple’s community forum and Reddit, have emerged regarding a significant drain in the battery level of their iPhone 12 smartphones. As per the reports when the battery starts draining too quickly in the case of a new smartphone, it is usually due to increased usage early on. The users like to fiddle with various aspects of the phone such as the camera, app updates and new apps. But this is not the case with the iPhone 12 lineup.
The report quoting a user Master26A on Apple’s community forums quoted that the iPhone 12 Pro’s battery was draining faster even in the standby mode.
“I'm noticing that the iPhone 12 Pro is draining when idle with almost no background activity at a rate of 4% which is much faster than my previous iPhone 11 Pro, and to be honest a faster idle drain than I can actually remember from a new iPhone,” the iPhone 12 Pro user wrote on Apple’s community forum.
What is concerning is that the battery drainage graph is similar when the phone is used in low power mode, wherein the battery usage reduces drastically, and when it is being used under normal circumstances.
But this is not an isolated incident. As many as 1,000 iPhone 12 users have reported having battery issues with their newly purchased smartphones. Some, as per the report by the publication, are witnessing a 20-40% battery loss overnight despite having turned off background app activity and 5G.
Apple has yet to comment on the issue.
