Kaspersky to launch hack proof phones
2020-12-10Kaspersky has announced to launch a secure smartphone that is almost impossible to hack. The device will have the operational system Kaspersky OS, initially designed to work on specific infrastructures with a high need for security or on IoT devices.
According to the company's CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, the smartphone will receive basic functionality with a standard set of aplicativos and its own browser. In addition, there is no plan to launch an application store for Kaspersky OS. However, the company does not rule out the emergence of its own app store in the future.
“There will be minimal functionality, beauty, both for Android and iOS. But this smartphone will not perform other special tasks. The device can make calls and send SMS, of course, there will be an office suite, its own browser with minimal functionality and a standard set of applications such as an alarm clock, calculator and so on ”, he declared.
The launch of the smartphone based on Kaspersky's operating system is scheduled for 2021. A Chinese company, whose name has not yet been released will manufacture the device.
A supportive “scary” vulnerability discovered by a Google employee allows hackers to remotely hack an iPhone and have full access to all content on the device. This includes viewing all photos, reading all emails, copying private messages and monitoring everything that happens in real time. Neither the hacker nor the victim need to be connected to the internet for the attack to be carried out: it is enough that they are within range of a Bluetooth connection. The attack requires zero interaction from the victim: she does not need to click on any link, open any email or download any app.
Fortunately, for users, the flaw was corrected by Apple with an iOS update released in May this year. It is enough that your device has the latest version of the system to be protected.
