MediaTek unveils Dimensity 9500s and 8500 to power next-gen flagship and premium smartphones

Launched at MediaTek Tech Day in Delhi, the new Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 chipsets target flagship and premium smartphones with all-big core architectures, advanced AI, gaming, imaging, and next-generation connectivity.

MediaTek today unveiled its latest smartphone chipsets — Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 — at MediaTek Tech Day in Delhi, positioning them to drive the next wave of flagship and premium smartphones in India and globally.

OPPO India and POCO India also took the stage to announce upcoming smartphone lineups for the Indian market based on the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500s system-on-chip (SoC).

Dimensity 9500s targets ultimate flagship performance

Designed for high-end smartphones, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s is built on a cutting-edge 3nm process and features an all-big core CPU architecture aimed at maximizing performance and power efficiency. The octa-core CPU includes one Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 premium cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance cores.

The chipset integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU to support demanding mobile gaming experiences, including advanced ray tracing. Its next-generation NPU is optimized for generative reasoning and multi-modal AI models, enabling enhanced edge camera processing and content creation.

Key features of the Dimensity 9500s include 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording, MediaTek’s Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 for improved energy efficiency, a 5G Release-17 modem supporting up to 7Gbps downlink speeds, AI Network Suite 2.0, and extended Wi-Fi and Bluetooth range capabilities.

Dimensity 8500 brings flagship-like gaming to premium devices

Positioned for premium smartphones, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 is built on an energy-efficient 4nm process and features an all-big core CPU design with eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked up to 3.4GHz. The platform supports LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory and advanced scheduling technologies to improve performance and battery life.

The chipset includes an upgraded gaming engine with full-frame stabilization, faster loading times, and improved power efficiency. Ray tracing support is extended to mainstream mobile games, delivering more realistic visuals and enhanced immersion.

Additional features include MediaTek’s 8th-generation NPU with support for large language models, a Mali-G720 GPU offering a 25% performance boost over the previous generation, AI-enhanced telephoto imaging, and a semantic engine for intelligent image optimization.

OEM partners signal upcoming smartphone launches
