Myntra is an Indian fashion e-commerce company headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The company was founded in 2007 to sell personalized gift items. In May 2014, Myntra.com was acquired by Flipkart.
The letter ‘M’ designed with overlapping shades of pink and orange to serve as a logo for Myntra. social media trolls found it “indecent, derogatory and denigrating to women” and forced the leading e-commerce store for fashion and lifestyle products to revamp its five- -year-old visual brand mark.
Flipkart owned Myntra has forced to change its logo after Avesta Foundation,an NGO filed a complaint with Mumbai Police's Cyber Cell claiming it was insulting and offensive towards women.
The DCP (cyber) Rashmi Karandikar said, after the meeting with the senior officials of Myntra,"We found the logo offensive in nature and company officials have assured us they will change it, but it will take a month to execute it across all platforms."
The activist Naaz Patel, who claimed the logo resembled a naked woman. Myntra agreed to change the logo after its officials were summoned by the police.
