Netskope, a leader in secure access service edge (SASE) solutions, has announced its acquisition of Dasera, a data security platform focused on protecting data across its lifecycle. This move aims to enhance Netskope’s unified security platform by integrating Dasera's capabilities, which offer robust protection of data from creation to storage, usage, and sharing.
Dasera’s platform specializes in data governance and privacy by monitoring data access, usage, and movement. This helps businesses detect and prevent potential security breaches and ensure compliance with various regulatory frameworks. By acquiring Dasera, Netskope is strengthening its position in data loss prevention (DLP) and cloud security, ensuring that sensitive data remains secure even as organizations adopt cloud-first strategies.
Netskope’s acquisition of Dasera is seen as a strategic move to enhance its data security capabilities, particularly in data security posture management (DSPM). Dasera, founded in 2019, specializes in securing data throughout its lifecycle across various platforms such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and on-premises environments. This acquisition allows Netskope to integrate Dasera’s DSPM functionalities into its Netskope One platform, which offers comprehensive security and networking services. This helps address the growing challenges of data governance, privacy, and ensuring sensitive data is protected across multiple environments, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data stores.
Netskope’s Senior Director of Product & Solutions Strategy, Robert Arandjelovic, emphasized that Dasera’s technology complements their platform's capabilities, aligning with their vision of unified data protection. The deal follows Netskope’s acquisition of Kadiska, further enhancing their portfolio with a focus on digital experience management and SASE.
Dasera’s CEO Ani Chaudhuri and CTO Dr. Noah Johnson will continue to play integral roles in Netskope, and the integration of Dasera’s team will help expand Netskope’s global presence in key markets such as India, the U.S., and Spain.
The integration of Dasera’s capabilities into Netskope’s offerings is expected to provide users with better visibility and control
The acquisition comes at a time when the market for DSPM is growing rapidly, with Gartner projecting a 20% enterprise adoption rate by 2026. Netskope aims to provide a unified platform that eliminates the need for multiple point solutions, allowing customers to manage data security posture and other protection tasks efficiently from a single system.
The deal signifies a broader trend in cybersecurity, where companies are increasingly focusing on data-centric security to protect against complex cyber threats, especially in cloud environments.
