2017-09-06
As per an interview published in a news source, OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau said that the Indian market contributes almost 40% to the total revenue of the company. It is the highest revenue contributor to the company, followed by the entire European operations. The brand is now targeting the premium smartphone market in India and it is also optimistic that this market will undergo substantial increase which will help the brand to grow.
Further discussing about the brand, he also said that OnePlus is not keen to sell volume in India but it wants to position itself as a preferred brand when it comes to Android phones. He also pointed out that presently, OnePlus is an e-commerce-driven brand so the volume will not be huge.
Pete mentioned in the interview that India is a primary market and second headquarter for the company. OnePlus hashired a lot of Indian talent in India and also the company is sending employees from China and other countries to strengthen the team in the country. The company is continuously investing in India and to get top-of-the-mind recall in the country, the brand has to invest a lot.
