The new offering brings financial data, AI-powered analysis and document creation into a single workflow, giving banks and financial institutions tools for research, modelling and client work with enterprise-grade security and controls.
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialised version of its workplace AI platform designed for banks, investment firms and other financial institutions. The offering combines financial datasets with GPT-6 Astra to support research, analysis, financial modelling and preparation of client-facing materials.
The product has been developed with design partnerships involving Morgan Stanley and Evercore, with the collaboration helping OpenAI identify financial workflows where AI can assist teams with day-to-day research and analytical tasks. The company said the initial focus is on areas such as investment banking and equity research, with broader financial-services applications expected to follow.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is now available to eligible financial institutions. OpenAI said interested organisations can contact its financial services team or their existing account teams.
Financial data and AI reasoning in one workflow
A key component of the offering is access to built-in financial information from providers including Daloopa, PitchBook and LSEG News, covering areas such as financial statements, earnings transcripts, company fundamentals and private-company information.
OpenAI said institutions can begin using these datasets without separately establishing connectors or negotiating individual contracts. The information is indexed and hosted on OpenAI’s infrastructure, while granular citations allow users to trace figures and claims back to the underlying tables and passages.
The platform incorporates GPT-6 Astra for information retrieval, financial reasoning and generating work products. The model can analyse figures, tables and notes contained in financial documents before turning that analysis into spreadsheets, documents and presentation materials.
Financial professionals can use the system for activities including valuation analysis, leveraged buyout modelling, buyer screening, earnings analysis, pitchbook preparation and company research.
OpenAI said the system is also designed to help firms standardise how AI-generated work is presented. Administrators can publish approved Excel, Word and PowerPoint templates, along with firm-specific style guides, allowing employees to convert research and analysis into valuation models, research notes and pitchbooks using established organisational formats.
Enterprise controls target financial-sector requirements
Security and governance are central to the offering, with ChatGPT for Financial Services building on capabilities available through ChatGPT Enterprise. These include SAML single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and role-based access controls.
OpenAI said business data is not used to train its models by default. Data is encrypted both while stored and during transmission, while administrators can configure workspace retention policies.
Compliance teams can also export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform for audit and investigation processes. Organisations can control access to skills and applications according to user roles, enable or disable supported app actions and create separate workspaces to establish information barriers.
The launch marks OpenAI’s latest effort to adapt its AI tools to highly specialised enterprise workflows, particularly industries where access to reliable data, traceable analysis, security and governance are critical to daily operations.
