Panache steps in the UTM Space with FireFilt
Panache Infotech is launching FireFilt, a Unified Threat Management system that offers multiple security features in a single product. Based on Panache's firewall, Control adds intrusion detection/protection based on the open-source software. Other new features include the ability to allow data traffic based on MAC addresses, as well as an embedded antivirus engine that provides the option to scan all inbound and outbound Web, e-mail, and FTP traffic for malware. Control also offers plug-ins for other commercial and open-source antivirus products.
"It's a Product progressed in the right direction," said, Akash Sutane, Vice President for Panache Infotech, which engineers Small Form Factor desktops and Embedded Technologies. The Mumbai-based company is ready with beta-tested PANACHE FireFilt. He adds "The integration of antivirus software with automatic updating, rather than having to depend on a third party to do it, and support for MAC-level filtering, which clients have asked for, gives the edge to the appliance."
"We have designed the product to have more control over bandwidth allocation, such as by providing more than the single bandwidth limiter that the software currently offers. The owners on board need to use all the network available to them, but the resources needs to be limited," Akash further explains.
PANACHE FireFilt typically designed for small and medium-sized companies that need a variety of security features but can't afford to buy them separately or to operate individual products. Panache enters in the UTM space along with the Portfolio of products such as Small Form Factor PC, Thin Client, Disaster Recovery Appliance and also offers a variety of embedded technologies and solutions.
PANACHE FireFilt can be purchased as a appliance that runs on Virtualized Platforms, Platform independency allows it to be installed on commodity hardware. It runs on 32-bit or 64-bit servers or workstations. PANACHE FireFilt is available for Linux, Windows, and the Apple Macintosh. Antivirus support is available at extra charge.
