UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson who was declared COVID-19 positive, and hospitalised. He has now been shifted to the ICU. A spokesperson from 10 Downing Street said, “Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the British PM has worsened, and on the advice of his medical team, he has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“The PM has asked Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of the State, to deputise for him whenever necessary,” said the spokesperson.
“The PM is receiving excellent care and thanks to all NHS staff for their all hard work and dedication.”
The British PMO had said Johnson was in good spirits and still in charge, though his condition deteriorated in the early evening on Monday, and he was transferred to an intensive care unit - where the most serious cases are treated - at St Thomas' Hospital in London.
Johnson was last seen holding daily meetings remotely via video conference till Friday from self isolation in his private quarters.
