PGCIL better known as POWERGRID is a “Maharatna” PSU owned by Ministry of Power, Government of India, which transmits about 50% of total power generated in India. A backbone of telecom networks, it owns and operates 66,922 km of Telecom Network with points of presence in 714 locations across India. Its mission is to become a global transmission company with dominant leadership in emerging power markets with world class capabilities.

PGCIL has recently won two electricity transmission projects in Rajasthan through bidding. The company will build two transmission systems. The company will work on "transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under phase II - Part A" on build, own, operate and maintain basis. It will also work on "transmission system strengthening scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under phase II - Part B" on build, own, operate and maintain basis.
