RailTel strengthening telecom infrastructure of Indian Railway

RailTel Corporation, a "Mini Ratna (Category-I)" PSU, provides neutral telecom infrastructure in India owning a Pan-India optic fiber network on exclusive Right of Way (ROW) along Railway track.

RailTel has provided high speed Wi-Fi at 985 stations at 415 stations, associating with Google as the Technology partner for Radio Access, while using its own backbone for broadband connectivity. It has also provided Wi-Fi in 200 stations with support of Universal Service Obligatory Fund of GoI. In the next phase RailTel has roped in Tata Trust for providing Wi-Fi at remaining B, C, D and E category stations across country.

RailTel has bagged the e-office phase 3 project of Indian Railway. The firm will implement e-office for Zonal Railways (Phase 3) using cloud enabled e-office application developed by NICs (National Informatics Centre).
