Snowflake has signed an agreement to acquire Crunchy Data, a leading provider of open-source Postgres technology.
Following the completion of the acquisition, Snowflake will introduce Snowflake Postgres—an enterprise-grade, AI-ready Postgres database, fully integrated into the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.
With this new offering, developers can continue using their familiar Postgres tools while benefiting from the performance, scalability, and governance capabilities Snowflake is renowned for. Customers will be empowered to run their most critical, AI-driven applications natively on Postgres within the Snowflake platform.
This move strengthens Snowflake’s commitment to open-source innovation and expands its support for diverse workloads, giving enterprises greater flexibility and choice as they modernize their data infrastructure for the AI era.
The transaction is expected to close subject to customary regulatory approvals. Further details will be shared upon completion.
