U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author Sriram Krishnan as Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence. Krishnan, who has held leadership roles at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap, will collaborate with David O. Sacks, the newly designated White House AI and Crypto Czar.
Announcing the number of appointments around AI, Trump recently said, “Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Working closely with David Sacks, Sriram will focus on ensuring continued American leadership in AI and help shape and coordinate AI policy across government, including working with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Sriram started his career at Microsoft as a founding member of Windows Azure.”

Sriram Krishnan, of Indian origin, hails from Chennai and studied at SRM Valliammai Engineering College in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu. He began his career at Microsoft, contributing to the development of Windows Azure and authoring the book Programming Windows Azure.
In 2013, Krishnan joined Facebook, where he was instrumental in scaling the company’s mobile app download advertisement business. He later worked at Snapchat and Twitter (now X), where he collaborated with Elon Musk on restructuring the platform. In 2021, he became a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
