
Chinese born Carl Pei is the CEO and Co-founder of Nothing. He was the co-founder of OnePlus along with Pete Lau, in 2013 and was the director of OnePlus Global. He left the firm in October 2020 to start a new hardware venture, called Nothing.
According to Pei, Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. Nothing's first product "ear (1)" has been launched on July 27, 2021. Now , Nothing is all set to launch its first smartphone. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Nothing Phone (1) in India on July 12. The company has now officially revealed the first look of the smartphone showcasing its transparent design. It is official that, the Nothing phone (1) will not be available in the US.
Interestingly, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme, and iQOO are owned by the same parent company — the Chinese multinational BBK Electronics. Yes, some of the world’s most popular smartphone brands are owned by the same entity. BBK Electronics and all its brands have gone to great lengths to keep this fact in relative obscurity. In fact, as BBK Electronics is a privately held company, we still don’t know the exact ownership structure of these brands. Experts says, Nothing is another Chinese controlled brand want to grab the market share in the elite segment, where Samsung and iPhone compete.
The Nothing Phone (1) is powered by a Qualcomm chip, though we don't know which one yet. Nothing OS promises to be fast and smooth and learns from your usage. Your apps should load and close super fast. The Nothing Phone (1) will offer 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates. Nothing Phone (1) will run Nothing OS, the company's take on the popular Android operating system.
