Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has appointed V.Raghunandan as the new Secretary. Prior to this appointment, Sunil Kumar Gupta was given an extension as TRAI Secretary in March for two months till May 31, 2021.
Gupta is now assigned as a Senior Deputy Director General at the office of Director General - Telecom in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). He will administer all field units under the 22 Licensed Service Areas (LSA).
Prior to this new appointment, Raghunandan was assigned as a Deputy Director General at the Department of Telecommunications.
Gupta had taken over as TRAI Secretary in September 2017 shortly after his predecessor Sudhir Gupta retired in July that year. Before his current role, he was principal advisor (broadcasting & cable services) at TRAI.
