Edtech unicorn Vedantu has laid off another 100 employees from teams including sales, training, among others, marking the company’s third round of layoffs since May 2022. Vedantu will be offering a two-month salary as severance to the affected employees.
Vedantu told the impacted employees that the layoffs were part of an organisational restructuring process. Vedantu Cofounder and CEO Vamsi Krishna said that the startup’s focus over the last two years was on acquiring users, building new courses and ensuring that the customers stick to the platform.
The permanent employees from sales and training teams were laid off over the last month. In May, the company had laid off 624 employees, including permanent employees and contractual educators, accounting for over 10 percent of its workforce.
The unicorn confirmed the development, saying that 120 contractual and 80 full-time employees were asked to leave as part of a cost-cutting exercise. Later In the same month, the startup had let go of around 424 employees across teams, comprising 7% of its workforce.
