Vi launches industry-first Family International Roaming discounts as outbound travel surges

As Indian outbound travel grows rapidly, Vi introduces a first-of-its-kind Family IR proposition offering discounted roaming packs, affordable travel insurance, and delayed baggage protection—aimed at delivering worry-free, seamless connectivity for families travelling abroad

India’s outbound travel is accelerating at a rapid pace, with the country witnessing a 10.79% year-on-year increase in 2024. According to the Ministry of Tourism’s India Tourism Data Compendium 2025, 30.89 million Indians travelled abroad last year, reflecting a strong preference for family trips. Industry data also shows that 59% of Indians travel with a spouse or partner, while 26% prefer travelling with family members.

Amid this growing demand, Vi has introduced a first-of-its-kind Family International Roaming (IR) offering designed to make global travel more affordable and worry-free. Vi remains the only operator in India providing Truly Unlimited data and calling on international roaming, ensuring seamless connectivity for users overseas.

Exclusive IR discounts for family postpaid users

Recognising the expanding base of family postpaid subscribers, Vi has launched an industry-first benefit that offers special IR pack discounts to secondary members on family plans. Under this initiative, secondary members on Vi Family Postpaid plans receive a 10% discount on IR packs, while REDX Family users enjoy a 25% discount.

These offers are valid on 10-, 14-, and 30-day IR packs, starting at ₹2,999.

Family Postpaid plans begin at ₹701 and support 2 to 5 members, with the option to add up to 8 additional users for ₹299 per member. Vi has also introduced the REDX Family Plan at ₹1,601 per month for two members, offering unlimited data, international roaming benefits, and premium services. The plan includes four complimentary airport lounge visits, a free 7-day IR pack worth ₹2,999, and an annual 25% discount on a second IR pack.

Travel insurance and baggage protection for worry-free trips

In addition to discounted roaming, Vi has partnered with Aditya Birla Health Insurance to offer an industry-first travel insurance cover worth ₹40 lakh at just ₹285 with all IR packs. The insurance covers medical emergencies, hospitalisation, evacuation, baggage loss or delay, and trip interruptions for a single international trip.

Vi has also strengthened its travel protection portfolio through a partnership with Blue Ribbon Bags. For ₹99, postpaid IR customers can claim up to ₹19,800 per bag (maximum two bags) in cases of lost or delayed baggage.
