The Mysuru-based deep-tech company is targeting growing demand for sovereign AI infrastructure with an on-premises platform that combines GPU computing, AI workloads and sustainable cooling for enterprises and institutions.
Vigyanlabs Innovations Pvt. Ltd. has launched FEMTO, a Sovereign AI-in-a-Box platform aimed at organisations looking to deploy AI computing infrastructure within their own premises. The launch marks the company’s latest effort to develop and take deep-tech solutions from Mysuru to markets across India and overseas.
FEMTO was formally unveiled at JSS College of Pharmacy in Mysuru by Dr. S. Somanath, Former Chairman of ISRO, who was the Chief Guest at the launch event. Somanath, who led ISRO during the Chandrayaan-3 mission, also participated in discussions around the development of sovereign AI and India’s technology capabilities.
The platform brings together high-performance GPU computing and AI infrastructure in an integrated system. By deploying the infrastructure on-premises, organisations can run AI workloads while retaining greater control over their data, AI models and computing environment.
Speaking about the launch, Srinivas Varadarajan, CEO & Founder Vigyanlabs, said “FEMTO represents our vision of building globally relevant deep technology from Mysuru. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly important across industries and nations, organisations need computing infrastructure that gives them greater control over their data, models and AI workloads. With FEMTO, we are bringing powerful and sustainable AI computing infrastructure directly to organisations. This launch is an important milestone for Vigyanlabs and reflects our belief that advanced technology built in Mysuru can serve India and the world.”
Focus on sustainable AI computing
Alongside sovereign control, Vigyanlabs is positioning FEMTO around sustainability. The platform uses a fully air-cooled architecture, which the company said is designed to reduce dependence on water-intensive cooling systems while meeting the requirements of high-density AI computing.
The launch event also featured the unveiling of Airawatt, the mascot representing the FEMTO Sovereign AI Experience. Experts from the technology, space and academic sectors participated in discussions on sovereign AI, AI infrastructure and the role of innovation in strengthening India’s digital capabilities.
Vigyanlabs, headquartered in Mysuru, has been working on sustainable computing and deep technologies. With FEMTO, the company is looking to expand the reach of its technology beyond its home market and establish Mysuru as a base for developing advanced AI infrastructure for Indian and international customers.
Dr. S. Somanath, Former Chairman, ISRO, said, “Mysuru is known across the world for its rich heritage and culture, and it is now steadily moving towards becoming a technology-driven city. FEMTO, which has been completely designed and developed in Mysuru, is a good example of this transformation. It sets a strong benchmark for the development of advanced AI infrastructure from the city. It is particularly encouraging to see a technology of this scale being developed in Mysuru, while also focusing on cost efficiency and environmental sustainability. This is a proud moment for Mysuru and an encouraging step towards building advanced technology from the city for India and the world.”
