Wind Man Of India, Tulsi Tanti Passes Away

The untimed death of Industrialist Tulsi Tanti, aged 64, who was also the chairman of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association, was on his way to Pune from Ahmedabad when he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Tulsi Tanti, the founder chairman and managing director of Suzlon Energy and a renowned expert on renewable energy. He became the poster boy of India’s wind energy sector making a fortune in the mid-1990s by investing in wind energy projects, capturing 50% of the market in India and being counted among the top wind turbine manufacturers globally. He took Suzlon public in October 2005, listing the company at Rs 510 per share and held a 70% shareholding in the company. He has been recognised for his strong journey towards bringing the concept of renewable energy after unavailability of power hit his textile business.
Tanti can be respected as the Wind man of India.He is hailed from Rajkot, Gujarat and studied commerce at Gujarat University, started his entrepreneurial journey as a textile trader, later diversifying into renewable energy after unavailability of power hit his textile business.
Suzlon Group, went into financial difficulties following the 2008 global economic meltdown, provides a full spectrum of green power solutions. The group has a market capitalization of over $1.5 billion and an international presence across 18 countries in 6 continents.
Under Mr. Tanti’s leadership, the company established and went beyond benchmarks, emerging as a prominent player in the global renewable energy market. He was committed to enabling energy security and affordability, whereby the benefit of clean, renewable and reliable energy reaches every sector. He is survived by his daughter Nidhi and son Pranav.

In a regulatory filing, the company said, “With profound sadness, we inform you of the untimely demise of Tulsi R.Tanti, the Founder, the Chairman & Managing Director, and one of the promoters of Suzlon Energy Limited on 1st October 2022. Tanti suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away the same day.” In this difficult time, the company continues to be supported by its highly experienced board of directors and senior management who are both able and committed to take Tanti’s legacy forward and realise his vision for the firm, it added.
Suzlon Energy is in the process of raising Rs 1,200 crore through a rights issue. The official said Tanti was on his way home in Pune after holding a series of meetings in Ahmedabad regarding the rights issue.
