YouTube is expanding the availability of its AI-driven search tool, with more Premium subscribers can now access the feature. It, however, remains restricted to the iOS and Android apps for now. This AI-powered Youtube delivers curated video results for specific topics. The feature first launched in June as part of an experimental rollout to a small group of testers. YouTube's experiments page clarifies that this AI search functionality will be around until August 20.
The AI search results carousel will only show up for "searches related to shopping, travel, or things to do in a specific place".
YouTube is also expanding access to its conversational AI tool, which has so far been limited to Premium users. In the coming days, the feature will roll out to select non-Premium users in the US as part of a broader test.
The tool allows users to ask follow-up questions, get video recommendations, and even quiz themselves on educational content—all within the app. YouTube says it has been popular among Premium users for exploring new topics and enhancing academic learning.
YouTube has played a big part in Google’s AI evolution in the last few months. A recent report by CNBC claimed YouTube videos have helped Google train its Veo 3 video AI model and it is being used with over 20 billion videos that the platform hosts from across users and creators.
