Next time a Zomato delivery partner meets an accident, help will be immediate as per the company's safety means announced.
Recognizing the risks faced by its fleet of delivery personnel who navigate traffic daily to fulfill orders, Zomato has prioritized their safety and well-being through enhanced measures. Towards the same the company has introduced the 'Accelerated Safety Response' program to enhance delivery partner safety by automatically detecting collisions and triggering emergency calls, allowing for quicker ambulance dispatch. The ‘Accelerated Safety Response’ program automatically detects collisions through the delivery partner app, immediately triggering an emergency call to Zomato’s central response system. This prompt action allows the system to dispatch an ambulance directly to the delivery partner’s location, potentially reducing response times in critical situations.
The program guarantees immediate support to delivery partners involved in accidents, providing timely medical assistance and financial aid when required. This move reflects Zomato's commitment to fostering a secure work environment for its partners, addressing concerns about their vulnerability on the roads. In addition to accident coverage, Zomato is exploring further avenues to promote safety awareness, including offering protective gear, safety training sessions, and leveraging technology for safer route planning. This proactive approach is designed to ensure not only the welfare of delivery partners but also the sustainability of their operations.
This new feature, which operates without the need for manual intervention, is intended to provide immediate assistance in the event of an accident. Zomato stated that the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to prioritise the safety and welfare of its delivery partners.
Anjalli Ravi Kumar, Zomato’s Chief Sustainability Officer, spoke at the launch, emphasising the company’s dedication to integrating sustainability into its business operations. "Sustainability is deeply ingrained in Zomato's core business ethos. Through the Accelerated Safety Response system, we aim to provide our delivery partners with immediate support during emergencies," Kumar added.
Zomato’s new safety feature is part of a series of initiatives aimed at improving delivery partner well-being. Previous efforts have included the 'Shelter Project', real-time weather notifications, support for filing income taxes, electric vehicle (EV) rental services, and maternity benefits.
