During a surprise call-in to Rush Limbaugh's radio show, Donald Trump bragged that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told him he was Number One on the social media platform.
'I had dinner with Mark Zuckerberg the other day,' the president told Limbaugh. 'He said, 'I'd like to congratulate you: you're number one on Facebook."'
In October, the two men reportedly had dinner when Zuckerberg was in Washington D.C. to testify on Capitol Hill about Facebook's new cryptocurrency Libra.
They also met in the Oval Office in September when the Facebook founder and CEO was in the capital to meet with lawmakers. Trump posted a photo of that meeting in his social media accounts.
Trump’s official Facebook page has 25 million likes. It is unclear what President Trump meant by being 'Number One' on Facebook.
In contrast, Kim Kardashian West's official Facebook page has 29 million likes.
During the nearly 20 minute radio interview, the president and the radio host talked about the situation with Iran, the impeachment process, and unity in the Republican Party.
Trump saw Limbaugh over the holiday season when the president was at the Winter White House at Mar-a-Lago.
Limbaugh introduced the president when he addressed conservative teenagers at the Turning Point USA conference in West Palm Beach.
The conservative radio host also had lunch with Trump at his Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach.
The president boasted about his social media influence during their phone conversation and claimed he used the platforms to push back against media stories he deemed to be false.
'Without Twitter I think we'd be lost. We wouldn't be able to get the truth out,' Trump told Limbaugh.
'I wish I didn't have to do it. I wish we had legitimate newspapers and legitimate media. We don't. I call it corrupt. It's the corrupt media,' he added.
Trump often refers to media stories he doesn't like as 'fake news.'
'I don't mind a bad story if it's right, but I know. A person reading the story doesn't know that it's false. So I'm able to tell them through social media. I don't even call it Twitter, I call it social media,' he noted.
Trump noted he's up to nearly 70 million followers on Twitter. According to his Twitter page he has 63.9 million followers.
