Beyond Login: The Behavioral Identity Gap
AWS has built extensive capabilities for identity, cybersecurity and risk-based authentication, including Amazon Cognito, AWS WAF and GuardDuty. Yet these capabilities differ from a specialized, end-to-end behavioral biometric system that continuously determines whether the person operating an authenticated session is actually the legitimate user.
Traditional authentication establishes credentials at specific checkpoints. Passwords, OTPs, MFA and device authentication can confirm that someone has successfully entered an account. The challenge is what happens afterward, particularly when attackers use phishing, stolen sessions, social engineering or AI-assisted techniques to bypass conventional controls.
Behavioral identity changes the security equation. Instead of asking only, “Did the user authenticate correctly?”, it continuously asks, “Is the person behind this session behaving like the legitimate user?” That distinction could become increasingly important for banks as digital fraud becomes more sophisticated.
