Netplus deploys Nokia’s 400G routing and SDAN platform to scale broadband and IPTV services
2025-08-20
The deployment, supporting nearly two million subscribers, enables Netplus to expand its broadband footprint with energy-efficient, scalable infrastructure while transitioning users to on-demand IPTV and powering high-bandwidth applications such as digital classrooms, e-commerce, and online gaming
Nokia announced that Netplus, one of India’s fastest-growing Internet Services Providers (ISPs), has deployed its latest 400G routing technology and software-defined access network (SDAN) platform to strengthen high-speed broadband and IPTV services across Punjab and other Indian cities.
The deployment, designed to support nearly two million subscribers, equips Netplus to expand its broadband footprint while ensuring energy efficiency and long-term scalability. It also enables the ISP to transition customers from traditional linear TV to on-demand IPTV services and support high-bandwidth applications such as digital classrooms, e-commerce, and online gaming.
Scalable and sustainable network architecture
With data consumption rising sharply in India, ISPs are under growing pressure to modernize their networks. Netplus is addressing this demand by deploying Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Routers (IXR) for broadband aggregation and the 7750 Service Router (SR) for broadband network gateway (BNG) functionality. Complementing this, Nokia’s next-generation SDAN platform for passive optical networks (GPON and XGSPON) integrates the Altiplano Access Controller with the Lightspan Optical Line Terminal (OLT).
This converged architecture ensures improved service assurance, investment protection, and enhanced network reliability. By leveraging SDAN capabilities, Altiplano optimizes performance through automation, diagnostics, and orchestration, accelerating service rollout and enabling operational efficiency.
Driving customer experience and energy efficiency
Highlighting the benefits of the deployment, Arshdeep Singh Mundi, Executive Director at Netplus, said, “Consumers today want access to high-speed IPTV and interactive applications across multiple devices and locations. This deployment ensures we deliver an improved customer experience, better energy efficiency, and the flexibility to support evolving needs in business and education. Our collaboration with Nokia reinforces our commitment to building next-gen digital highways for northern India.”
Echoing this sentiment, Jivitesh Nayal, Head of Emerging Business for Network Infrastructure at Nokia India, said, “By working with Netplus, we are helping build the foundation for India’s next-generation broadband experience. Our solutions deliver the performance, scalability, and automation needed to support data-intensive applications like IPTV, while enabling energy cost reduction and future-ready growth.”
The rollout marks a strategic milestone in India’s broadband evolution, positioning Netplus as a frontrunner in delivering high-speed, scalable, and sustainable digital services.
