Mr. Tata was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Monday due to age-related issues and to manage his blood pressure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Congress party paid heartfelt tributes to Mr. Tata, recognizing his visionary leadership, philanthropic spirit, and immense contribution to Indian industry.
In a statement confirming the news, N. Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons Chairman, expressed, “On behalf of the entire Tata family, I extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we work to uphold the values he so passionately championed.”

"It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation," said Mr Chandrasekaran.
"For the Tata Group, Mr. Tata was more than a chairperson. To me, he was a mentor, guide, and friend. He inspired by example. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, the Tata Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass," said Mr. Chandrasekaran.
Maharashtra government announces mourning one day after the sad demise of Ratan Tata. No entertainment programmes will be held during the mourning. Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Ratan Tata will be kept at NCPA lawns from 10:30 a.m. onwards for people to pay their last respects.
Mortal remains of Ratan Tata to be kept at NCPA lawns, final rites at Worli Crematorium. According to a statement, “The mortal remains of Mr Ratan N Tata will be taken to the NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, 10th October 2024, for members of the public to pay their last respects and homage to the departed soul.”
At 4:00 p.m., the mortal remains will embark on its final journey to the Prayer Hall at the Worli Crematorium, Dr. E. Moses Road, Worli.
In a post on LinkedIn, Shantanu Naidu says, “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse.”
Mr. Tata was known for his philanthropic endeavors and commitment to social causes. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
