Cybersecurity firm Rubrik has been positioned as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Backup and Data Protection Platforms, earning the furthest placement in the Vision axis. This recognition highlights Rubrik’s strategic focus on cyber resilience in an era of intensifying threats and increasingly complex hybrid data environments.
The announcement comes on the heels of Rubrik’s agreement to acquire Predibase, a move designed to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI technologies in enterprise data protection. The acquisition is aimed at delivering intelligent, autonomous backup operations as enterprises look to future-proof their cybersecurity strategies.
“Cyber resilience is the future of cybersecurity. Between increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks and data sprawl across hybrid environments, the stakes are only getting higher,” said Bipul Sinha, CEO, Chairman, and Co-founder of Rubrik. He noted that organizations now require more than legacy backup systems—they need preemptive recovery capabilities and identity resilience to stay ahead of ever-evolving cyber threats.
Sinha added that Rubrik’s position as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant affirms the company’s comprehensive approach to protecting data across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments. He also emphasized the company’s commitment to enabling secure generative AI (GenAI) innovation and safeguarding the data of more than 6,000 organizations worldwide.
The Gartner report noted that vendors in the backup and data protection market are rapidly advancing their platforms to meet the evolving needs of enterprises. This includes support for complex multicloud and SaaS environments, as well as a growing emphasis on integrated cybersecurity capabilities. Gartner’s strategic planning assumptions suggest a significant shift in enterprise priorities over the next four years. By 2029, a majority of enterprises are expected to adopt unified backup solutions across on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Backup of SaaS applications is forecast to become a critical requirement for most organizations. Additionally, the report anticipates a steep rise in the integration of cyberthreat detection and GenAI within backup platforms, as well as the emergence of agentic AI to automate backup and recovery operations.
Rubrik’s strategy aligns closely with these trends. The acquisition of Predibase is expected to enhance its AI capabilities and further strengthen its leadership in delivering intelligent, resilient data protection solutions. As cyber risks continue to rise, Rubrik’s recognition in the Magic Quadrant reflects its ongoing efforts to redefine the boundaries of enterprise cybersecurity and data recovery.
