Samsung is gearing up to cross 100 million Galaxy A Series smartphone sales in India by December 2025, driven by the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, its most affordable AI-powered smartphone. Since the Galaxy A Series debut in 2019, Samsung has already sold over 96 million units in India, making it one of the company’s strongest product lineups.
The new Galaxy A17 5G is priced between ₹18,999 and ₹23,499 and introduces advanced AI features like Circle to Search with Google and Gemini Live, enabling real-time AI conversations. Packed with a 50MP OIS camera (no-shake cam), Exynos 1330 processor, and a 5000mAh battery, the device caters to performance-driven and budget-conscious users alike.
According to Raju Pullan, Senior VP, Samsung India, the upcoming festive season sales will play a crucial role, contributing nearly 25% of annual smartphone sales. Samsung also expects double-digit growth in its flagship Galaxy Z Fold series and Galaxy S series during this period.
As per Counterpoint Research, Samsung ranked second in India’s smartphone market by value and volume in Q1 2025, while maintaining the global No.1 position with a 20% market share. The aggressive push with the Galaxy A Series highlights Samsung’s strategy to strengthen its dominance in the mid-range 5G smartphone segment and expand its AI smartphone portfolio in India.
