Tough time ahead for Twitter
2023-07-12
Elon Musk has admitted that the micro-blogging site Twitter, had to be 'saved from bankruptcy' and that the same required a lot of hard work. Everyone wishes Twitter to thrive and it'll but seems a tough time ahead.
Ever since Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter, the company has gone through some radical changes and is no longer the place it once was. Twitter's work force, for instance, has been reduced from 7,000 to around 2,300 people. Musk also introduced a number of policy changes at the company and had altered facilities offered to the employees.
Experts say, Twitter is not the cup of Tea for Elon Musk. Rather he has to focus much on the big things by fulfilling his duties at Tesla and SpaceX. The billionaire also added that Twitter still has a long way to go and he would appreciate some 'public support'.
Germany’s federal office of justice has started proceedings to fine Twitter, for mishandling user complaints over “illegal” content. With this Twitter could be staring at fine more than its $ 20 billion worth, less than half the $44 billion he paid for the social media platform just seven months ago. However, the German authority did not specify on the illegal content it was referring to, or the size of a possible fine.
Elon Musk announced new restrictions for verified and unverified users in a bid to address 'data scraping and system manipulation.'. Twitter has temporarily limited the number of posts a user can read daily. Verified accounts are now limited to reading 6000 posts per day, unverified accounts 600 posts per day and new unverified accounts 300 per day.
Meanwhile, Twitter users across countries on Saturday complained of facing issues accessing the micro-blogging website amid a buzz of a global outage. However, Twitter has not acknowledged the outage yet. Tech gurus feel that, Twitter is DDOSing itself.
However, despite these actions, Twitter continued to experience heavy traffic. As a result, Twitter users started encountering 'Rate Limit Exceeded' messages, and discussions about the collapse of Twitter became trending topics.
