Apple will be releasing Apple Intelligence through free software updates for owners of some iPhones, Macs and iPads. It is reported that on October 28 the eligible Apple devices will get the iOS 18.1 update encompassing Apple Intelligence.
It is also reported that the software update was supposed to arrive by mid-October but Apple has pushed it forward to ensure the update is stable and bug-free. On top of that, the company also needs to ensure that its private cloud computing servers are ready to handle the AI traffic from millions of devices.
The initial version of Apple Intelligence, which Apple describes as an unfinished “beta,” will include a slightly improved version of Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, and tools that automatically summarize text, transcribe audio recordings and remove distractions like photo bombers from pictures. This debut is the beginning of a new era for Apple.
These are the first wave of Apple Intelligence features set to arrive on eligible iPhones, iPads, and Macs, possibly by October 28. Future updates will introduce additional AI-powered features, including a ChatGPT-enhanced Siri, Visual Intelligence, Genmoji, and an on-device image generator. With each major iOS 18 release, beginning with iOS 18.1, at least one new Apple Intelligence feature will be added, leading up to WWDC 2026, where Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 with even more advanced Apple Intelligence capabilities.
The entire iPhone 16 lineup will gain Apple Intelligence post-iOS 18.1 update, including the entry-level iPhone 16, starting at Rs 79,900, making it the most affordable iPhone eligible for Apple Intelligence. Similarly, last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will also gain AI features.
iPad or a Mac with any M series Apple Silicon are eligible for Apple Intelligence.
