The Gemini model, featuring an estimated 1.2 trillion parameters, is significantly more advanced than Apple’s existing AI systems. Apple intends to use the model as a temporary solution while continuing to develop its in-house large language models and AI infrastructure. In March, reports suggested that Apple CEO Tim Cook had restructured the team, appointing Mike Rockwell to lead Siri development after setbacks under AI chief John Giannandrea.
