X Money enables seamless in-app fund transfers and financial services, supporting Elon Musk’s vision of transforming X into an all-in-one platform that combines messaging, commerce, and digital payments, with cryptocurrency integration—especially Bitcoin—and partnerships like Visa for smooth transactions
Elon Musk’s social media platform X, formerly Twitter, is preparing to roll out its first digital payment service, named X Money, later this year. The announcement came from Musk himself, who confirmed that while the service will initially launch in a limited beta phase, it marks a significant step toward expanding X’s functionality beyond traditional social networking.
X Money is designed to allow users to send and receive funds seamlessly within the app, supporting a range of financial services that align with Musk’s vision of transforming X into an “everything app.” This multifunctional platform aims to integrate messaging, commerce, and digital payments into one unified experience, similar to apps like WhatsApp but with enhanced financial capabilities. Early indications suggest that cryptocurrency payments, especially Bitcoin, will play a key role in the service, alongside partnerships with established financial firms like Visa to facilitate smooth transactions.
Secure beta launch plans
Although no exact launch date has been disclosed, the beta trials are expected to start soon, focusing on cautious rollout due to the sensitive nature of handling user funds. Musk emphasized the need for “extreme care” when it comes to user savings, underscoring the importance of security and trust in the platform’s financial offerings. Reports also indicate that Musk is working to secure regulatory approvals across all 50 US states before a broader launch in 2025.
Since acquiring Twitter in late 2022, Musk has aggressively pursued innovations, including a revamped subscription verification system and enhanced monetisation options for creators. His intense dedication to X and other ventures such as Tesla, xAI, and SpaceX’s Starship project continues to shape the future of the platform. With X Money, Musk aims to redefine the social media landscape by merging communication, finance, and digital services into a single, convenient hub for millions of users worldwide.
