Samsung has introduced an updated version of its Quick Share feature with the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup, enabling easier file transfers between Android and Apple devices. The move is aimed at simplifying cross-platform sharing, a long-standing challenge for users operating across different ecosystems.
The rollout began in South Korea is expected to expand to regions including the United States, Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The feature will be available on select models, including the Samsung Galaxy S26+ and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Bridging the Android–iPhone Gap
With the update, users can send photos, videos, and documents directly from Galaxy devices to iPhones and Macs using a process similar to AirDrop. The feature works through Samsung’s Quick Share interface, where nearby compatible devices can be detected and selected for file transfer.
To use the functionality, Galaxy users need to enable a “Share with Apple devices” option within Quick Share settings. On the receiving end, Apple devices must have AirDrop visibility set to allow incoming files. Once configured, the transfer process eliminates the need for third-party apps, cables, or email-based sharing.
Expanding Cross-Platform Strategy
Samsung said the feature is part of its broader effort to improve interoperability between Galaxy devices and other platforms. By enabling seamless sharing with Apple hardware, the company aims to address a common friction point in everyday digital interactions, from personal photo sharing to professional file exchanges.
While similar capabilities have been introduced in parts of the Android ecosystem before, Samsung’s implementation on its flagship lineup is expected to bring wider adoption due to the scale of its user base. The company has also indicated that the feature may expand to additional Galaxy devices in the future, though specific timelines have not been disclosed.
The update reflects a growing industry trend toward greater cross-platform compatibility, as major technology companies look to enhance user convenience in increasingly mixed-device environments.
